謎の大災厄により社会基盤が破壊され、分断した世界で主人公が荷物を背負いながら孤立した人たちをつないでいくゲーム、『DEATH STRANDING（デス・ストランディング）』では、このように語られる一節があります。「いまのわたしたちに必要なのは、つながること。孤立することじゃない。そして、結び目をつくることよ」
The means by which we as individuals connect and knot are beginning to emerge. It is an initiative that utilizes digital technology called DX (Digital Transformation), and it is changing the whole life such as money, work style, food production, energy, movement and learning. But DX is not just about digitizing life in general. Rather, it is the return to our hands of the means to change our lives.
In Germany, consumers become producers of electrical energy, and blockchain allows the exchange of natural energy without going through power companies. Media aesthetics scholar Mitsuhiro Takemura says that this kind of transformation from existing social systems to alternative systems is occurring mainly in Berlin.
In Higashikawa Town, which is located almost in the center of Hokkaido, there is a digital regional currency Higashikawa Universal Card (HUC), which Teruno Tadai was involved in planning and introducing under the slogan of a modern wooden signboard. It is used not only for economic circulation within the region, but also for efforts to increase the related population and even for entrepreneurship support.
I would like to think about how we as individuals can transform our lives through DX, and what kind of connections and knots we can make, not only from the university but also from the frontlines of regional innovation.
