山本文彦教授からのメッセージ
Executive Director Yamamoto giving a speech
This Chikaho event was the first of its kind for a university, and in many ways the theme was to go outside. Graduate students must have had opportunities to speak in laboratories, research groups, and companies, but I don't think they have had the opportunity to present to the general public until now.
A total of 66 students participated in this study. I also saw all the posters, and they were all of a high level, and I was able to get interested in them because of the various ways of presenting them. Among them, the posters of the three people who came here today were particularly easy to understand and had excellent content, and they received many votes. I believe that everyone has a strong desire to improve their communication skills and convey the appeal of research in an easy-to-understand manner.
In future university education, of course, we will promote research in specialized fields, and we will also convey the contents of our research to the general public, and in some cases, we will practice our own research together with the general public. I would like to train people who have the energy and strength to become doctoral students. You are all pioneers of the kind of doctoral talent that Hokkaido University wants to nurture. I look forward to his future success.
中西さんからの挨拶
Mr. Nakanishi giving a greeting
I am very happy to receive such a wonderful award. In addition, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the people involved, the judges, and the citizens who attended the presentation in Chikaho, which contributed to the SDGs with the research results this time. After participating in the event, I realized that the understanding and interests of citizens differed from one another, and that it was necessary to change the explanation each time. Instead of forcing my presentations and opinions, I was able to communicate well with the citizens, and as a result, I was able to learn that my presentations were understood.
At this event, I was able to achieve my initial goal of having many people understand my research. At the same time, I was able to see posters other than my own, and I was able to hold hope that the world would be a better place if the future depicted here really came true. I would like to continue to make use of the experience I gained this time, the words I received, and the opinions I received in my research life.
藤田修教授からのメッセージ
Professor Fujita greeting
As a judge, I had the opportunity to look at all the posters, and there were many excellent ones. Among them, the three award-winning posters were memorable and impressive. As Executive Director Yamamoto said, most of the research in the doctoral course is done in the laboratory by myself or by a few other members, and I don't have many chances to communicate with people outside. I believe that this event was a valuable experience in communicating my research in an easy-to-understand manner to the general public, not to specialists. I hope that you will take advantage of this experience and continue to play an active role in the future.
出村誠教授からのメッセージ
Professor Demura giving a greeting
Congratulations to all. I think that everyone's works were of a high level, while the content was easy to understand for both the general public and researchers. For this event, I think I chose the theme that I am good at and that I thought applies to my research out of the 17 SDGs. But perhaps everyone on Earth thinks that all 17 items must be connected, and I think they are. I would like everyone to have an awareness of the issue, "What should I do with the SDGs items that were not selected as themes?" Even if it's not direct, there's always an indirect connection, so I think it's a good idea to keep that in mind as you deepen your specialty and broaden your connections with society.
The award ceremony was held in a relaxed atmosphere from beginning to end, and after the ceremony, the winners presented their posters.
Mr. Namie presenting the content of the poster
Lastly, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who participated in the conference to contribute to the SDGs with their research results.
Science Festa is scheduled to be held again in 2023, so we hope you can join us next time.
