In the 1980s, when I spent my time at university, the world was in a state of excitement as the so-called bubble economy peaked. Until then, many of the doctoral degree holders had gone on to pursue a career in academia, but from around this time onwards, the path to employment in the private sector gradually opened up. Under such circumstances, the research I was doing in my master's course was so interesting that I felt a stronger desire to continue for a while longer, so I postponed my job search and entered the doctoral course. It may be a choice made because it was in the middle of the bubble economy. Three years later, I withdrew from the doctoral course with the required credits and got a job at a private company. I was supposed to join the company after obtaining my doctoral degree, but in the end, I did experiments until the day before I left university, and plunged into society without much preparation. I was able to join the company I had hoped for, but I ended up in a two-legged situation: doing company research during the day and writing my doctoral dissertation at night. After a year, I left my job to obtain my Ph.D. and concentrate on my work as a researcher. After that, after experiencing a postdoc in the United States, I returned to my alma mater, where I am today. There have been twists and turns, but maybe life is more like that. I introduced myself as well.
As a bridge between doctoral human resources and private companies
When I was a graduate student, there were no classes in the doctoral program, and I spent most of my time doing research. As a result, I think that I was able to develop overwhelming specialized skills, but I also think that I would not have been able to acquire the comprehensive basic skills necessary to work in a diverse society unless I was conscious of it. For this reason, it is said that there was a tendency for companies to shy away from doctoral course graduates. Currently, graduate school education is enriched, and you can take various classes and programs that can cultivate the ability to see things, introspective intelligence, international practical ability, human network formation ability, etc. that this project aims to develop. It looks like In addition, an increasing number of private companies are actively considering recruiting doctoral degree holders who have received such an education. However, it cannot be said that there are many opportunities to connect companies seeking human resources with students who match them. One of Ph.Discover's purposes is to function as a window that provides such opportunities. We accept requests from both students and companies. Please feel free to contact us first. If all roads lead to Rome, Don Quixote, go bullshit!
